Description:
The presentation describes the format and rationale behind the sessions which were a part of the middle school’s activities program at the American School of Rio de Janeiro in the 2007-8 school year. In these sessions, students were engaged in reflecting on their actions within different virtual game environments and we will discuss the potential benefits of the program. We will also explore the potential of different computer games, known as COTS, as means to connect curriculum and students’ interests within different subject areas.
About the Presenter:
Luiz was born in Curitiba, Brazil and has embarked on a journey of teaching overseas. After 2 years teaching middle school science at the American School of Rio de Janeiro, Luiz is currently teaching high school science and biology at the International School of Belgrade, in Serbia.
