TakingITGlobal (TIG) operates the world?s most popular online community of young leaders. Members inspire each other to make a difference, learn about issues that matter, and find out how to constructively channel their energy and ideas. With a membership of close to 300,000 individuals in over 200 countries, www.tigweb.org has reached 10 million youth since its launch in 2000.
In 2006 TIG launched the TIGed program. TIGed comprises a community of educators interested in empowering students to think and act as world citizens, resources that facilitate the inclusion of global perspectives in the classroom, and a virtual classroom that allows students to learn with and about peers the world over.
This presentation shares TIG’s inspiring story, award-winning web platform, and youth-centered, technology-driven initiatives, leaving participants with a better understanding of how social media can support young leaders interested in actively shaping a more inclusive, peaceful and sustainable world.
